FRESH WORT KIT
Share
For those of you who want to brew homemade beer (but don't have the time..)
If you struggle to find time to brew your own beer due to time constraints, you often choose an extract kit .
An extraction kit contains approximately 2 kg of concentrated wort, which is mixed with 18-10 liters of water. In addition, sugar or beer enhancer must be boiled to obtain the correct alcohol level.
This is basically quick and easy , but the result is that the wort is very concentrated. The color is darker than you would expect and the taste has a strong hint of "concentrate". Unfortunately, this is unavoidable in the production of such kits, as most of the water is evaporated away so that the wort is concentrated down to a volume that does not weigh too much to ship around the world.
If you want to get a really good beer , you have to take the step further to allgrain brewing. This is what we are really passionate about here at Rock City Brygg, and we are constantly developing new allgrain beer sets that our customers really enjoy. In an allgrain beer set you get pre-measured ingredients and instructions, ready to use.
This is the Fresh Wort Kit
The box includes:- A sturdy bag of brewed wort ready for use
- Yeast
- Dry hops (only applies to certain sets)
- Guidance
The advantage of the Fresh Wort Kit versus the extract as mentioned earlier is that here you get about 15 liters of product and not 2 kg of concentrated syrup. You don't have to boil anything, add sugar or dilute with large amounts of water. The result is therefore completely different!
You get a bright and beautiful color, good taste and aroma, and a product as close to authentic as you can get without doing the entire brewing job yourself.
PRODUCTION
The wort included in the sets is produced at De Tvende in Arendal.
The wort is brewed with malt, of the same good quality as you get in an Allgrain kit. We have done the work for you here with mashing, rinsing, boiling, adding hops and cooling. The finished product is pasteurized and packaged in sturdy bag-in-box bags. Our wort is tapped hot into the bag, which is first vacuumed, then nitrogen-flushed and filled, for the best possible shelf life (any bubbles in the bag are nitrogen, not air). We have tested this thoroughly over time, and have found that the shelf life is very good and the product is incredibly good!
INSTRUCTION
Here we will explain step by step how ridiculously easy it is to “brew” a Fresh Wort Kit:
- Pour the wort into your fermentation vessel
- Top up with clean tap water to 20 liters total volume.
- Add yeast
- Put on lid and yeast lock
- Follow the included instructions regarding recommended fermentation temperature.
NOTE: When you take the bag out of the box, you will see that there is some cloudy sediment in the bag. This is natural sediment from brewing that can be included in the fermentation vessel without affecting the result.
FERMENTATION AND BOTTLING
If you are new to the game, we recommend a fermentation time of 14 days.
If you've brewed a lot before, you probably know that fermentation is over in a slightly shorter time.
If the FG is measured stably over 3 days, the beer is ready to be bottled, keg or canned.

Tip:
Fermentation under pressure also allows you to ferment lager/pils at higher temperatures!

Do you already have a Cornelius barrel and are curious about fermentation under pressure?
Then we can safely recommend a serving lid and overpressure kit.
This allows you to ferment under pressure right on the cornelius barrel!
