CARBONATION TABLE
Share
How to use the carbonation table:
The table is color-coded by beer style.
- Blue = Porter and Stout
- Green = Lager, Ale and Amber
- Yellow = Wheat, Lambic and Cider
The amount of pressure to use depends on the temperature of the liquid. At low temperatures, CO2 settles more easily in the beer, and at higher temperatures, a higher pressure is required to achieve the same result.
First find the correct temperature on the left in the table, and then move the pointer to the right to the desired CO2 volume. At the top of the table you will then see the correct pressure given in Bar/PSI to be set on the CO2 regulator. Allow about 7 days with connected CO2 to achieve fully carbonated beer.
If you want to get carbonation into the keg faster, you can start with a higher pressure, before then going down to the pressure given in the table. We recommend starting carefully, in order to eventually gain experience with how quickly a beer is carbonated with this method. Note that by following the table at the correct temperature, the beer will never be overcarbonated due to added CO2.
