Château Roasted Barley Malt
Features Raw roasted barley. Torrefied up to 230°C. The length of the roasting time determines the darkness of the grain.
Characteristics Château Roasted Barley is a heavily roasted barley that adds a roasted, grainy, coffee-like flavor to your beer. It shares many of the characteristics of Château Black Malt, although it is far more complex. It actually has some starch that can be converted during mashing, thus affecting the specific gravity. Château Roasted Barley will also contribute to the sweetness of the beer. Compared to Château Chocolate and Château Black Malt, roasted barley produces the lightest colored head. Gives a deep red mahogany color to the beer and a very strong roasted flavor. Adds dryness to porters and stouts.
Use Porters, Stouts, Nut Brown Ales and other dark beer styles. 2-4% in Brown ales, or 3-10% in Porters and Stouts.
