The first Blowtie unit is well known from use with Fermzilla and Kegmenter, in combination with ball lock and duotight couplings, with a push-in manometer. Following customer feedback, Kegland has developed an upgraded variant, with a built-in manometer!
Fermenting under pressure is now easier than ever. The device can also be used in other contexts, e.g. compressed air, CO2, nitrogen, water pressure etc. but is mainly developed for pressure adjustment during fermentation under pressure. It is also ingenious for creating back pressure during closed transfer between two pressurized kegs.
Specifications:
- Suitable for pressure 0-1 bar (0-15 psi)
- Made from food grade polyacetal (POM) plastic
- Gaskets in EPDM
- Stainless steel screws
- 8mm Duotight quick connectors on both ends (in/out)
Instructions for use:
The back pressure is adjusted by turning the yellow knob. Turning clockwise increases the pressure, and counterclockwise decreases the pressure.
Our tip is to pressurize a keg to just over 1 bar, and use this to adjust the valve down to the desired pressure before using the coupling on a fermentation tank or similar. This way, everything is set correctly before pressure has built up in the fermentation tank.
When using for the first time, it is recommended to follow the instructions above and leave the valve under pressure for a few hours as a break-in period. This is to achieve the greatest possible accuracy when the product is put into use.
NOTE: It is important not to exceed the pressure the gauge is designed for, as this can damage the gauge. It is therefore advisable to pre-set the valve as mentioned above, for example if it is to be used on a keg that is overcarbonated.
