Protafloc tablets are an effective fining agent used in beer brewing and wine making to achieve crystal clear beer/wine. Made from carrageenan and Irish moss.
Irish moss is well known for its ability to clear liquids, while carrageenan is commonly used in the food industry to thicken products. By using Protafloc tablets in the last 15-20 minutes of the cooking process, particles in the liquid will bind and sink to the bottom, thus providing a clearer drink. The product is also excellent for the production of wine, cider and mead.
Protafloc is a safe and organic choice, which stands out positively among other products on the market. Add 1/2 tablet to 20 liters of wort towards the end of the boil to bind proteins during cooling. If a clearer and fog-free wort is desired, Protafloc can be a good alternative to Irish Moss.
Replace previous Whirlfloc with Protafloc - they have similar properties and will ensure a successful preparation process.
